Fitting Day

When getting to ready to receive us into your home it is important to prepare yourself, prepare your property and prepare your neighbours in order to ensure as-smooth-as-possible a floor-fitting experience on fitting day(s).

Speak to all who live in your home and to your neighbours in advance of the start date for our works. Uplifting, sawing/cutting and installing flooring and skirting is very noisy, dusty and messy. Not to mention that if we are cutting outside in your garden (as we prefer to do wherever possible) that the cold and wind may be a factor as we often require constant and regular access through your external doors.

Decide if you are staying-put in your home during the duration of the fitting day(s). If the layout of your property allows, nominate a works entrance for us and a home entrance for you. Appreciate and plan around the fact that that we use heavy, sharp and dangerous tools - this is especially important with regards to children and pets.

Please ensure that you remove any valuables or delicates out of accessible parts of your house. During our works, your external doors are likely to be open / unlocked and other workers may be coming and going. If things "go missing" or break, this will be a real shame for everyone and may cause suspicion. Better to avoid the issue altogether by moving anything of value (financial or sentimental) or any delicate ornaments to a secure place.

Your property and the rooms/areas to be fitted of your home require to be cleared in advance of our attendance time/date to uplift your existing flooring and fit your new flooring. This is especially fundamental in respect of a herringbone pattern floor due to the nature of how it is correctly fitted. You need to (or need to arrange to) have all your furniture and possessions removed from the work areas in advance of us commencing work. If there are rooms in your home where no works are being carried-out then you may be able to use them as a store and you should utilise protection / padding (i.e. foam pads, self adhesive strips, cardboard, cushions, sheets etc.) on the floors, walls and other surfaces in such storage rooms as well as on the base, legs, feet, underside, corners of the actual furniture being moved itself. If there are any very heavy / bulky items or items which require to be dismantled (i.e. bed frames or large cabinets) as they would not fit through doorways etc. then we may be prepared to assist you moving / dismantling such items only on the strict understanding that we shall not be held liable for any knocks or damage caused by us assisting you in moving / dismantling such items.  Wall coverings, paintwork, flooring and the heavy / bulky items themselves can often be easily scratched, dented, chipped, scraped, torn etc. where no protection / padding is utilised when moving, and/or dismantling them. It is your responsibility and your duty to put in place protection / padding for your property when it requires to be moved / dismantled and stored in rooms and on/against surfaces in your home where no works are being carried-out. We will not be held liable for the consequences which flow from you not carrying-out your responsibilities and your duties to your property as described above.

Please tell us which of your facilities - i.e. water, electricity, WC etc. - which we may or may not use. We are in your home and we wish to respect you. Oh and if you don't wish us playing background music from our smartphones just let us know.

Finally, as regards payments to us, we accept cash or bank transfer (details shall be provided upon your request). We do not accept cheques nor do we have card-payment facilities. Please kindly and politely note that we require and, indeed, expect prompt payment in full upon our immediate completion to your reasonable satisfaction. We do not offer credit facilities, instalment plans nor "time to pay". Only payment in full and immediately upon our completion whilst we are still present and cleaning-up after ourselves in your house is acceptable to us.
